Progress Report – Mid-January

Hello again!

Just a short note to comment on the status of various projects we have going right now.

FTC Regulation Conformance

Most of the S&CW sites are now back on line and in conformance (at least as we understand it) with the FTC rules and regulations introduced in December 2009. Many of the older Jimmy Craig Websites sites are still off-line, and may be for quite some time. These sites have a large number of in-line text links, and we are searching for ways to modify these effectively, and maybe completely revamp the sites and update the information as well.

Go Green – Save Green

We have decided to combine our Go Green – Save Green site into it’s “mother” site, Practical Greenology. As a result, the GG-SG site will slowly disappear from the Internet, but the content will be integrated into Practical Greenology. There were two primary reasons for this decision: the first is that keeping two sites with similar content going more-or-less sîde-by-side is not very efficient, and tends to damage both sites, and the other is that maintaining traffic flow to a subdomain is not so simple (unless you are Google or somebody like that).

Website Translations

You may have noticed that we have a spot on this site and some others where we had hoped you could translate the entire page into one of about 35 languages and read more comfortably. The background for this is that many of our sites – Green Home MegaStore as an example, only have about 35-40% of their traffic originating in North America. Being able to translate the pages automatically at the click of a button would have been a nice advantage for us, but we have run into a software problem: the software only translates the first page of the site, and returns error messages for the rest. We are working with our software supplier to cure this – hopefully with success and hopefully soon!

eBooks

We have acquired a selection of ebooks that we can distribute to you at no cost; the first one, about energy conservation and alternative fuels, is now available on Green Home MegaStore. If you have a request for a particular subject area, please let us know, and we will try to accommodate your desires.
